The Founder
Felipe Macagnani is the creator of Sabatik—a journey of raw immersion and self-discovery born from a life on the road, cultural friction, and the search for genuine human connection.
From an early age, he questioned rules that made no sense and challenged systems that stifled curiosity. He found his own pedagogy in the friction of life. As a backpacker and cycle-traveler across South America, he experienced firsthand the unpredictability of the road, hostels, communities, and volunteering, understanding that presence and authenticity weigh far more than any performance of success.
As an entrepreneur, he ran a hostel in Fortaleza, Ceará, hosting and leading over 200 international volunteers, witnessing firsthand the transformative power of community service. Today, as an independent researcher in the field of Post-Human Education, he views the rise of Artificial Intelligence as a catalyst for a global identity crisis: in an automated market, the ultimate differentiator is not mimicking machines, but finding what makes you unique, human, and different from the majority.

Yes. Sabatik offers three crossing durations: 3 months (2 placements), 6 months (4 placements), and 1 year (9 placements). But we can also adapt to whatever time you have available. The consultative admission process exists precisely for us to design together the journey that makes sense for your moment of life, without forcing a duration that doesn't fit your context.
Our support is multi-layered. You will have access to an AI assistant on WhatsApp 24/7 for logistical aid; the Ear piece + Vasco Translator V4 for simultaneous dialogue with hosts and locals; military-grade SPOT satellite tracking (Shielded); SafetyWing medical coverage (Shielded); and an exclusive co-wanderer network for mutual integration and support.
The Vasco Translator V4 is a dedicated physical voice translation device that comes paired with an ergonomic ear piece. It allows you to speak and listen to hosts in Spanish, Quechua, or regional dialects in real time without looking at a phone screen. By removing screens, it keeps you present and connects you deeply to the community.
Your accommodation is 100% covered by the local Host in exchange for your work. Food is mixed: hosts provide 1 to 2 daily meals on average. Flights and inter-state transit are your responsibility; our route is planned based on geographic proximity to minimize costs and eliminate airport fatigue.
The journey is individual, but support is collective. You will enter an exclusive WhatsApp group with other Sabatik co-travelers to share, support, and inspire each other. At each placement, you live alongside the local community and other project residents. And you always have direct access to the Sabatik manager.
Unlike an e-commerce transaction, Sabatik does not sell placements automatically. The process begins with a qualification form, followed by 3 individual 50-minute sessions with founder Felipe Macagnani. In these sessions, we map your current life phase, your objectives, and design the ideal crossing. Only after complete alignment do we sign an agreement and set dates.
